ASAF Jury Clinic – Penghu, Taiwan

The second Asian Sailing Federation (ASAF) Asian Technical Officials Jury clinic was held in Penghu, Taiwan from 12th to 14th August’24.

A total of 22 participants attended the clinic.

Clinic Instructor Mr. Leonard Chin (International Judge) gave an understanding to participants regarding the role and requirements to be a judge.

In particular, the clinic covered the basic rules, the rules that govern race management, protests and redress, exonerations, IRPCAS, Rule 42 on the water judging, Rule 69 and the use of an on-line jury administrative system. Racingrulesofsailing.org was used by the participants.

The clinic also covered practical sessions. Mock protest hearings were conducted by all participants in compliance with Appendix M of the rules. Participants were shown videos for better understanding.

The objective for Asian Technical Officials through these clinics is to imbibe knowledge from experienced instructors that will help them to ultimately qualify and officiate at international level events.

The attendees were handed out certificates at the end of the clinic after an assessment.

Mr. Leonard Chin (International Judge) expressed his gratitude to the organizers and conveyed his best wishes to all participants for the future.
