The Hong Kong Sailing Federation (HKSF) has secured a sponsorship agreement with EFG International covering the training and development of Hong Kong's Youth Sailing Squad.
Over the past five years, the development of a significant youth training squad by the HKSF has resulted in successful international campaigns by young sailors who have gained critical experience and, in some cases, international accolades.
'Right now, we have a group of young people coming through our training schemes with real potential to win honours on regional and global stages,' says HKSF President, Mr Warwick Downes. 'EFG Bank recognises the importance of nurturing these youngsters and ensuring they benefit from top level coaching and exposure to high-level competition in their respective racing classes'.
EFG Bank has offered a three year sponsorship package which will be administered by the HKSF to cover training and coaching expenses as well as the cost of sending teams to overseas events where they will gain vital experience.
Mr. Keith Gapp, Head of Strategy and Marketing of EFG International, says sailing is a sport the Bank supports in variety of ways. 'Youth sailing, particularly in a context such as Hong Kong where there is a rich history of sailing and boating for both commerce and for pleasure, is an area that fits perfectly into our sponsorship portfolio. 'We are looking forward to developing a close and rewarding relationship with the Hong Kong Sailing Federation and Hong Kong's youth sailing squad,' Albert Chiu, CEO, EFG Asia added.
The sponsorship package is effective from 1st April and will run over a three-year term.
