Hong Kong Team Inspired By The Return Of The Sun

The 2014 RS:One Trikora Beach World Championship has officially taken off in Bintan island, Indonesia.

For the first time, Indonesia, the 2018 Asian Games organisers, is holding an international RS:One event with the strongest fleet an RS:One world championships has seen so far.Despite overcast and threatening skies the race committee has not wasted anytime in sending the fleets out, getting them on the water as early as possible with a clear goal of validating the maximum number of races.A medium breeze up to 17 knots welcomed the 53 racers with a return of the sun in the Indonesian sky. In the morning races the Phillippines Geylord Coveta attacked, taking two clear victories whilst the current leader Cheng Kwok Fai hit back in the afternoon with two of his own.

In the women’s fleet, a clear four bullets for Ma Kwan Ching from Hong Kong puts her ahead of the Japanese Hisui Takahashi and Indonesian Rio Hoiriah.

The 2013 RS:One World Champion, Cheng Kwok Fai, from Hong Kong holds his lead over the 2012 RS:One World Champion Geylord Coveta but the Games are far from being over with three more race days and possibly a marathon race on Friday.
