Please take note of the Official Statement below, released by the Asian Sailing Federation – Executive Committee :

“The Asian Sailing Federation Executive joins the Olympic Movement in its support of the IOC and OCA Executive Board’s statement on solidarity with Ukraine, sanctions against Russia and Belarus, and the status of athletes from these countries.

The ASAF also believes in the unifying power of sport and that all athletes, regardless of their nationality or the passport they hold, should be able to compete in sports competitions.

As per the fundamental principal 4 of The Olympic Charter “the practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play”. In this regard ASAF welcomes all athletes equally to participate in Asian Regattas.

ASAF remains on standby as the IOC and OCA continues to explore with International Federations the pathway for the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes’ participation in competition under strict conditions.”
