Sattahip International Regatta 2018 kicks off at the Naval Rating School in Sattahip, Chonburi.
Admiral Rungsarit Sattayanukul, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Fleet presided over the opening ceremony of the first Sattahip International Regatta.
The Yacht Racing Association of Thailand has been holding “Hua Hin Regatta” as the main sailing championship of Thailand since the year 2000. However, this year marks the first time that “Sattahip Regatta” is held at the Naval Rating School in Sattahip, Chonburi. The Regatta is to commemorate and hornor the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej who sailed from Hua Hin across the Gulf of Thailand to Sattahip in 1966, and to honor His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun who continues the royal duties to support sporting activities in Thailand.
The Regatta from 16 to 22 July 2018 include a total of 173 boats and 201 sailors who will compete in a series of races encompassing OK, SUPER MOD, 470, CATAMARAN, Keel Boat, LASER STANDART, LASER RADIAL, OPTIMIST, LASER 4.7, 420, Finn and 29er. In addition, there will be other races such as RC sailboats, kiteboarding and windsurfing in the same vacinity.
Sattahip Regatta 2018 is supported by the Royal Thai Navy, Sports Authority of Thailand, PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP).
